I took some more photos and even a video today of flooding in Iowa City around Park Road Bridge and North Riverside Drive. With the closure of these two streets and the closure of Rocky Shore Drive, the only road out to the outside world is Woolf Ave Bridge which thankfully does not have water running underneath it.
Many of you know about the flooding going on in the Midwest, particularly around and in my hometown of Iowa City. Some of you know that I just moved back to Iowa City last week and now have to deal with this.
I have received many calls and emails about the flood and if it is affecting me. I appreciate all the concern. We live on top of a large hill and don’t expect any flooding to reach us from down below. The flood is currently at 500 year levels and we are still okay. Even if the dam in the area was to collapse, I bet it still won’t reach us.
We are concerned about access roads, utility outages, and food shortages. If any one of those become an issue I might just head to Okoboji, IA to stay at my parents condo to play it safe.
This morning my father and I went down the hill of our back yard to see where the water was. I uploaded some photos to flickr for you all to see:
